As a result, not all stones could be returned to their former locations during the subsequent comprehensive restoration. The ponds were completely restored between 1950 and 1955, including the surrounding compound wall. The majority of the original punkalas were discovered to be gone. They had been either stolen or destroyed. These punkalas were replaced with authentic, concrete replicas of the ones discovered on the site. The subsurface drain was never repaired.
