What to expect
Meet your instructor at Miyagino Stable’s former Osaka training camp, a genuine sumo facility once used by Yokozuna Hakuho and other professional wrestlers. Begin with an introduction to sumo’s history, traditions, etiquette, and basic rules. Warm up before practicing fundamental sumo exercises, including shiko leg stomps, koshiwari squats, suriashi sliding steps, and teppo striking practice. Your instructor will demonstrate each movement and guide you step by step, so no previous sumo or sports experience is required. Traditional sumo mawashi are available at the venue for guests who wish to wear one. After practicing the fundamentals, put your new skills into action in a friendly sumo match. Finish the experience by taking commemorative photos inside this historic training facility.
